Project: Marigold (Chatbot) – Large Federal Government Department
Role: Innovator/Project Manager/Lead Developer
Problem: This department has over 10,000 people . The People Division receives hundreds of inquiries each day primarily via central inboxes. Many of these queries are transactional and repetitive and responding to these takes up several FTE. End user experience is poor with long response wait times, and difficulty in identifying the right person to speak to and in finding information on the existing intranet.
Solution:
- Create an internal chatbot using Power Virtual Agents. This provides immediate 24/7 client support with standardised answers. Content is easily modified by specialist areas without the need for developer support.
- Use Power Automate to escalate more complex issues directly to the right person
- Connectivity options such as Direct Line Speech & Telephony allow accessibility in extreme environments such as Antarctica, where accessing touch screens is difficult in protective clothing
- Analytics to provide insights into commonly asked questions, customer satisfaction and performance.
Project: Change Management Application & Reporting – Large Manufacturer Corporate Function
Role: Project Manager/Lead Developer
Problem: Change Management processes paper based. Process fragmented across the business. No visibility, trackability or analysis available to senior leadership. Processes and approvals not followed resulting in significant business risk and poor change outcomes.
Solution:
- Creation of Change Management Power App embedded in SharePoint Intranet Portal that is accessible business wide and compliant to internal Change Management Standards and procedures
- Use of Power Automate to develop multilevel approvals processes and update data sets and provide notifications through various levels of the change process
Development of Power BI Report to provide visibility, tracking, and management of Change Management activities across the business.
Project: COVID-19 Mobile App & Reporting (Rapid Deployment) – Large Manufacturing Company
Role: Project Manager/Lead Developer
Problem: Lion Dairy & Drinks is a large business with numerous manufacturing and corporate locations across Australia with thousands of employees. Immediate and urgent Tracking, managing, reporting and providing visibility to senior leadership on COVID cases in real time.
Solution:
- Creation of mobile application for reporting new cases using Power Apps using Agile management process to achieve usable solution in rapid time (< 2 days)
- Utilisation of Power Automate to ensure immediate notification to key leaders of new cases, locations and actions taken.
- Development of Power BI Reporting using data collected from App for real time COVID Case monitoring
- Cases updated and managed from within the Power App.
Project: Company Data Collection App – Large Manufacturing Company (Supply Chain Excellence Award 2020)
Role: Project Manager/Lead Developer
Problem: No mechanism for business wide data collection and analysis. Data collected non-systematically and in non-standard formats. No capability to compare within/between/across the business. Difficult for business leaders to have visibility of business as a whole. Paper based or excel based data storage and collection.
Solution:
- Develop of a one stop shop Data Entry App for collection of all data across the business that cannot be collected from other business systems. App includes collection of Operational, Quality, Safety, Planning and Environment data for the whole business.
- Data from the App in integrated with other data sources to create Supply Chain PowerBI Report that tracks and manages information from all data streams for wholistic view of the business. Includes high level dashboards as well as the ability to drill down to a granular level.
Project: Take 5 Application & Reporting – Large Manufacturing Corporation (Safety & Wellbeing)
Role: Project Manager/Lead Developer
Problem: Personal Risk Assessments (Take 5) require team members to carry around booklets & pens. Booklets are awkward to work with and team members were reluctant to complete them. Data from booklets could not be collected and analysed.
Solution:
- Develop Take 5 mobile app for installation on mobile phones using Power Apps.
- Develop PowerBI Report to undertake detailed analysis of data.
- Allowed recurring risks to be identified and programs developed to reduce overall business risk profile.
Project: Behavioural Safety Application & Reporting – Operational Site
Role: Project Manager/Lead Developer
Problem: Effective behavioural safety requires recording and tracking of Safety Conversations. Conversations were recorded in an excel based document. Team members were required to remember conversations until the could return to their computer. There was no visibility regarding number/type of conversations and no reporting. In depth analysis could not be undertaken to inform decision making processes.
Solution:
- Developed a mobile phone app using Power Apps for instantaneously recording Safety Conversations.
- Developed PowerBI report from collected data to provide visibility to leadership team regarding recurrent issues and in depth analysis of safety concerns.
- Forms a core part of regular reporting for the site, reporting of conversations have increased, and programs have been developed based on the data analysis available.
Project: AI Stocktake Project (Prototype)– Operational Site
Role: Project Manager/Lead Developer
Problem: Stocktake of products undertaken in an extremely time consuming and error prone manual, paper-based process.
Solution:
- Use Power Apps to develop a stock take App that would allow team members to take a photo with their phone.
- Use Power Platform AI Builder to build and train AI to recognise and count various products
- Prototype is showing promise for automating stocktake and improving accuracy.
Project: Intranet Portal – Operational Site
Role: Project Manager/Lead Developer
Problem: Many complex site systems that are paper based and not easily or logically accessible. Poor awareness of required systems and processes.
Solution:
- Used SharePoint to create a One-Stop Shop for the site.
- Integrated system with O365 solutions such as PowerApps, PowerBI, Yammer, Planner & Forms
- Features include Incident Reporting, access to PowerBI Reports, embedded data collection apps & logical links to other systems and even a site classifieds page (and news)
- SharePoint site has become integral to site operations and is the first port of call for any site activities.
- Portal is being replicated at all 30+ sites in this business
Project: Environmental Management System – Operational Site
Role: Project Manager/Lead Developer
Problem: The Site was required to implement an Environmental Management System that could be externally certified by SAI Global.
Solution:
- Use SharePoint to develop an integrated, living, auditable system compliant with the relevant ISO Standard
- External auditor loved the system and audit was passed with zero non-conformances.
- Approach is being replicated at all 30+ sites and at the Corporate head office.
